@SkuskNG i think i figured it out a bit, you have to make a symbol on top of the drawing and outline the shading with the light parts and set the symbol effects to blur on high quality with like 20 pixels or larger/smaller depending on the size of the drawing, then set blending to "add"

Pre-render render. I went a little hard on the shading, I have to remind myself to do it more simply next time. The more complex, the more difficult it becomes when I paint over.
