I think Chuuya truly began to wear his 22 outfit when he was 18 or late 17 because the first Harukawa's artworks with Chuuya in this style show him with his long strand of hair with PM Dazai,it seems the last year before Dazai left (since at 16 he has still short hair)➡️

Chuuya has been suffering silently for so long not knowing who he was,all those emotions making burn his whole being with rage frustration sadness anger,and from Dazai's very first touch on his neck silencing the god he coud finally breath and had a sensation of freedom.
