Details! It was fun to paint this, Ive found that doing studies that are quite different from my normal style has helped me improve things that I might not think about! Leyendecker is especially good for me, since he used a lot of brush strokes and textures that aren’t obvious.

At the King's request he & his son Peter built the biggest ship the navy had seen. HMS Sovereign of the Seas, launched 1637 (& 1637 tons) was the first 3-decker.
Phineas even made a pull along toy ship for young Charles II.
