aaah, that one I don't have much experience with, but i'll tell you what I do know

it doesn't really have to be super detailed. Treat it like rocks, but with white lines and highlights separating differenct sections

I have lots to learn with water, ironically!

I don't have a step by step tutorial to show you, but what I do is

separate the wood with lines, all with different shapes. Make some parts darker as if they had holes

then add some highlights to make it stand out
