Testing color matching in
Same settings, the 2nd is without cc.
As you can see, in both cases raw footage of blue sky is getting through, but with cc it's only texture (check the top left cloud), and the color/sat/lightness stays consistent with the stylized image!

The flat color layer is generally a low stress pass for me. However, I'm amazed at how much more the texture and shading passes add to the overall image.

I think you're thinking of the noise texture put on an overlay mode.
First pic is an emote I made without the noise texture in overlay, second is with at around 20%
