A big challenge in the 2099 style was simplifying our look down to paper and line work in distances from cam. We treated each shot like a literal painting built up from the canvas adding shape & motion lines and colored paint strokes based on lighting https://t.co/lCvu5IglIW

The concept art of Syd Mead ( top left ) was a big inspiration for the look of world.
In lighting/comp we fashioned the lens flare ( top right ) to look like hand drawn construction lines instead of anamorphic lens optical artifacts. 😎
