Late as always, I did an 80's themed blast from the past featuring Brew and Spill. Brew is wearing a Revenge of the Nerds fit, while Spill is wearing a vaguely April O'Neill fit (I know it's 90s, but her earrings say 80s, ok?!)

The little boy with the hairstyle of a Saint Seiya is another version of Shingo.Seriously, the first impression this design gives me is that he seems to be an anime character from the 1980s, rather than a powerful fighter.Anyway he's cute enough though.🤗
When Disney's animators were working on Little Mermaid in the 1980s, they unearthed this eerily beautiful concept art from Walt's first attempt at adapting the story in the 1940s
@GailSimone Top tier terror for kids in the 80s, and I love them! (Also, big nod to the child snatcher in Chitty. *shivers*)
Sad to see Oliver Frey has died. Not an artist I've thought of for a long time, but thanks to his cover and poster artwork for Crash magazine back in the late 80s, he's the artist I had the most work of up on my walls. Here's a few pieces I remember well from back then.
I’m old enough to remember shopping for clothes at Chess King in the 80s, but somehow I don’t recall ever seeing these 1986 ads by Boris Vallejo.
Hearing the sad news that Oli Frey has died. His artwork adorned the covers of hundreds of games mags in the 80s, but he also produced comic strips (including the Action Comics pages from Superman the Movie) as well as being a prolific painter of gay erotica. A true legend. RIP.
Here's the deal.
For a sweet spot in the 70s/80s, we got to see the heights of Western animation. Disney was losing ground & a spaghetti-meet-wall strategy was seemingly the way to go. We lost that to deep pockets wanting the easy way out & exporting animation on a wide scale. https://t.co/64sMFtGGLj
1987: None
1986: Pastel Yumi: The Magic Idol
The final series of Pierrot's magical girls in the 80s, the animation was colorful and consistent for the time, well drawn characters in every cel and such a cute adventures! Great opening theme too.
SUPERMAN: SPACE AGE #3
The end is nigh! As red skies reign, Superman does what he can to make the world a better place for as long as it continues to exist. But money is power in the greed-driven '80s, and villains like Lex Luthor seem poised to win in the end.
Let's look into From Up on Poppy Hill (コクリコ坂から) this week for #GhibliSpotlight! Based on a shojo manga from the 1980s, this was Miyazaki Goro's second time directing a feature film. It was first released in Japan on 16 July 2011. 🧵 [1/8]
@RichardElric2 Oh I can go back to anime from the 70s, 80s, and 90s and we can definitely see differences through the generations
#MondayMotivation I was educated at college in the 80s, first job 88, never out of work until the shamdemic. Keep trying and things will get better. Some of my early 90s work…
@biskeletal @ChrystalWRox I know that Grant Morrison gets a mixed reception for their portrayal of trans characters like Danny the Street from DOOM PATROL and Lord Fanny from THE INVISIBLES back in the 80s, but to be fair Morrison was still coming to terms with their own gender identity back then…
@kfoxx_writes He's from the US 1880s, so just simple slacks and shirt. But he learns he's the chosen one by the gods of ancient Sumeria, so he travels to other dimensions and wears their alien attire 😬
As a child of the ‘80s, I knew I had to ask @dilftaro for a CareBear version of Astarlis! Look how cute she is! 💗💗💗 Ready to CareBearStare some evil back to Oblivion!

@vikverrier @bunnytanktreads You're going overboard again. Most geeks and nerds were socially ostracized and just wanted to be left alone. In the late 70s/early 80s, it was right wing religious crazies campaigning against "Dungeons & Dragons", with leftists joining in against video games in the late 80s/90s.
