Tonight’s movie was Akira. This was my first anime movie that I watched in 1991. This movie is a masterpiece of art, storytelling and surrealism.
When people ask me “what anime I should watch first?” I always say Akira.

Macross: Do You Remember Love is gold star 80s anime kino. If you want the full story watch the show but DYRL is impressive cinema loaded with exquisite art and one stunningly animated battle sequence after another. It probably features the best animation from Japan until Akira.

Not saying Crybaby Miki is a bad character or anything. Just a little bit different from some of my preferred Mikis. I just think they went too far sanding off some of her rough edges. That’s all.
