This is the poster design for the 25th Anniversary of the Whyte Avenue Artwalk! This art festival is still happening this year! Artwork will be displayed in retail locations along Whyte Ave - July 10-31!

Once you've agreed terms, it's really helpful to organise the things that need organising before the artist can be paid, while they do the work. Like registering them as a supplier or raising a PO number. Otherwise they have to wait much longer to be paid.

Plus all the stuff you can't predict! Sometimes the commissioning process itself leads to new ideas or questions. Sometimes your commission will inspire that talented postdoc to email you, sparking a lifelong fruitful collaboration!

Perhaps for a it's easier to think of as a reagent. An antibody might cost $500 a pop, but the answers it gets you are priceless! (Or at least another grant). Art is like that too. Why know about something if you can't share that knowledge?

It may look indistinguishable from freshly autoclaved buffer, but that clear liquid is positively teeming!

Endings are incredibly important in therapeutic work, yet as we change to remote working, my reflections turned to whether this is an ending in itself. A distancing, a move away from connection and the therapeutic relationship.
