I mean Basculin was a literal Pokedex filler, but GF still chose to give it a cool evolution because, well, it was filler. They chose to give it more of a reason for existing, rather than just filler. I'm still waiting for a screenshot of the full context, but this'll do.

While I can't emulate Sugimori's art, I feel like my design translates okay anyways! I needed a more Pokemon representation of Parsec's mega design!

So that new Pokémon Direct from yesterday. I’m very excited for both games. One feature that excited me the most were the new Pokémon, especially Basculin’s new evolution, Basculegion. Finally, the evolution that Basculin deserves.

When it comes to evolutions, Sinnoh never holds back. We've already got two new evolutions and I pray they evolve from standard Basculin and Stantler. This will be great for these Pokémon.
