I started re-read of Alias cos it came out in beautiful big Omnibus in our country. I love the character study of Jessica Jones and the mix of realism with superhero elements works so well and still feels fresh. Bendis is on top of his game here, it reads so smoothly

I think Bendis is only a tiny part of the problem. Yes, it was his Avengers that invaded Utopia, he also wrote the infamous AvX, as did Hickman, Brubaker, Fraction and Aaron, and his X-Men were so cruel to Cyke, but his Cyclops was amazing.

Bendis got a hold of him and decided "You know what Imma make him a mafia boss." and there you have it. The story was originally about the bad guy becoming better but then it became "Guns & magic are cool". But the point of him was that he was a regular guy underneath. That's it.
