For the oldest European ruminant! Bachitherium thraciensis from Bulgaria & Serbia (ca. 38My, Late Eocene). These fossils explain a tectonical diachronism of the faunal dispersals into Europe at the base of the Oligocene (34My vs 31My).

Just in time for new paper by Campbell et al: Temporal range extension and evolution of the chasmosaurine ceratopsid ‘Vagaceratops’ irvinensis (Dinosauria: Ornithischia) in the Upper Cretaceous (Campanian) Dinosaur Park Formation of Alberta https://t.co/RSGEtsJOrb

For the recently named Suskityrannus hazelae! This small tyrannosaur was found in New Mexico. A reconstructed skeleton has been on display for years, but is now joined by this beautiful (fuzzy!) life restoration by Benji Paysnoe. 🦖

For here's 2016 of Spinolestes, an exceptionally well-known Cretaceous mammal from Spain. We know a lot about its skin and fur (except on the tail - the bushiness shown here is speculation) and also the shape of its ear pinnae, which makes me very happy.

For here's a walrus posing for a holiday snap during a busy day in Pleistocene Doggerland (a landmass now under the north sea). The walrus is our modern species, but most of the other species are extinct.

For here is the skull of the woolly rhinoceros Coelodonta antiquitatis, freshly 3D scanned from fossil collections!

For here's of uberfamous pterosaur Pteranodon on a rock. The depicted species is Pteranodon longiceps under the generally accepted scheme of Pteranodon nomenclature, but others would class this as Pteranodon sp. 1/n

For here's of the Triassic pterosaur Caviramus schesaplanensis, an animal with long wings, a robust skull, and densely-packed multicusped teeth. If you like this artwork, it's available from Redbubble as prints and merchandise: https://t.co/RPJDJwy4y0

For here's of battling Iguanodon. We're used to the idea of igaunodonts having huge thumb spikes to fight with, but they're quite small and/or blunt in many species. Iguanodon has very large thumb spikes however, and may have used them antagonistically.

For here's some of the British wukongopterid Cuspicephalus boldly facing a blustery day. Note that 'boldly' meant 'cowering behind quillworts' in the Jurassic.

For here's my take on the mid-sized azhdarchoid Thalassodromeus. There's some neat features on the skull of this animal which probably relate to facial tissues - I wrote about them at my blog not so long ago: https://t.co/IxWpLHJ1FL

For a quick poll: which of these pterosaur images would you rather see in Life through the Ages II: Nyctosaurus or Hatzegopteryx? Both are awesome species, and I only have one pterosaur slot.

For of big azhdarchid pterosaurs, small azhdarchid pterosaurs, and azhdarchid tracks. That's good azhdarchid value.

Also for here is Asilisaurus kongwe, a silesaurid dinosauriform from the Mnda Beds, Triassic, Tanzania

It's so here's some of that most obscure sauropod, Diplodocus. And yes, that red pterosaur is a Zallinger homage.

For with a certain big ape back in cinemas this weekend, it has to be (necessarily speculative) of Gigantopithecus.
