As has become traditional since the first Boxing Gorilla Day in 2016, many of the artworks shared today have been created specially for the occasion, such as this illustration by me of my character "Monkeywrench" Jim Simyan preparing for a taped fist match.

This gentleman, whom I suspect most of you will recognise, has participated in previous Boxing Gorilla Day activities. On Thursday (July 22), he'll be taking part in the proceedings once again – along with seven other celebrity apes...

Have you guys ever heard of Koko? She was an amazing gorilla that knew sign language and had several pet cats. However, none of them were named Lily, Sprinkles, or Johnny. Sadly, she died in 2018.

...Eight! Nine! TEN! That's it! Bruno Bearington is out cold, and Steel retains his title as super-heavyweight champion! What a fight, ladies and gents! (Big thanks once again to Alan Stewart for drawing all of this, and to for creating Steel!)

Showing extraordinary resilience, Steel manages to stay on his feet after that huge hit from Bruno; and, in a remarkable turn of events, he replies with an almighty uppercut of his own, sending the bear flying! (By Alan Stewart; shout-out to !)

As round four of Steel vs Bearington begins, it's clear the ape is still off-balance from the prevous round. A clumsy haymaker is easily blocked by Bruno, and BAM! The bear responds with a hard right to the jaw! (By Alan Stewart; shout-out to !)

8 42

Round two of Steel vs Bearington, and the ape is not letting up! Spotting a gap in the bear's defences, he unleashes a straight right, and CRUNCH! Let's hope Bruno wasn't too attached to his sense of smell... (By Alan Stewart; shout-out to !)

Our next fight is a super-heavyweight match between 's masked mean machine Steel, and Bruno Bearington, the bruisin' bruin, coached by artist extraordinaire Alan Stewart (https://t.co/fFE7phDN49). And DING! There's the bell! We're off!

We're into the third round of Kong vs Grape Ape (cheers again to our intrepid cameraman, ), and POW! The youngster lands a devastating uppercut, and King Kong is down! What an upset!

Ladies and gents, your new monsterweight champ: The Great Grape Ape!
