My take on Hideaki Anno’s period of depression that lead to Eva is that it was a perfect psychological storm just as its end product is of thematic influences. IMO it was a mix of unrequited love, unresolved childhood trauma, the failure of a pet project and personal shame.

I highly doubt anyone is gonna get tired of animated films taking influences from Spider-Verse because every film using those similar techniques is using them in a different way than the last film that used them.

Before continuing to the 90s, a side-note: by the mid 80s, Europe begins making RPGs too, mainly Ultima & Dungeon Master clones in Germany & Eastern Europe.

France, however, did their own thing. Mixing comics, manga & cinema influences, they had a unique & short-lived RPG scene:
