Esske is finished! I wanted him to look regal and have some cool patterns, and at first I thought of Maasai patterns, since he looks a bit like that, but settled with a homage to Amir's dress from the wonderful A Bride's Story by Kaoru Mori.

Taveta warriors roast meat in 1909.

Note how their dress and adornments bears resemblance to those of their neighbours, the Maasai.

Again, like the Maasai, the Wataveta used spears, swords and shields for defence. Bows and arrows were however confined to older men.

Maasai bonfire

I don't remember the last time I drew fire but I wanted a project that would push me to learn.

This series was interesting to do, I had to go watch tutorials and learn about light and shadow around fire.
