These designs are based on/inspired by the Vedic Period of India’s history, as well as a bit of the Mauryan era. Outside of research, some of my visual inspo came from those nostalgic Chandamama illustrations, as my dad used to collect them, as well as the Mahabharata serials!
Mighty interesting this french Mahabharata comic by Jean-Claude Carrière and Jean-Marie Michaud is. Quite like the art. familiar but not. Hope this gets translated into english one of these days...

I wanted to look up more about their origin which is the epic/story ''Mahabharata'', basically the better Game of Thrones of ancient India + demigods & the supernatural!
