45) Josee, the Tiger and the Fish - Seiko Tanabe/Nao Emoto
Manga adaption of a movie, I sadly missed out watching in the cinema. The first half is incredibly strong, the second half tho feels a bit rushed & cliché. By no means bad tho!
I should also prb. watch the movie sometime
leaving this 1/1 here…keep notifications on to get access to a PRB airdrop on the next tweet 💫 mint coming soon..
As the first buds of the year appear: 'Snowdrop' & 'Crocus' Flower Fairies by the wonderfully imaginative Cicely Mary Barker for this week's #MagicMonday. Although created in the 1920s the botanical detail & supernatural theme ring true to the themes of the PRB & followers.
Soooo... am I now kinda maybe officially allowed to say this? Prb not but lets pretend I am, Hii everyone??
Celebrating the wondrous work of Beatrix Potter this #SisterhoodSunday. Expert illustrator (with PRB attention to detail), conservationist & mycologist.
The Potters were close friends with Millais who told a young Beatrix :"plenty of people can 'draw', but you have INSPIRATION".
Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May (1909) by John William Waterhouse (1849-1917). Given the theme (carpe diem) it's perhaps ironic that the owners of a farmhouse left this painting on the wall for 30 yrs unaware of it's life changing worth. #PRB #EnglishArt
Celebrating the highly talented illustrator Cicely Mary Barker (1895-1973) this #SisterhoodSunday. Although very commercial now Barker's meticulous depictions of flowers surely deserve a second look, aligning with PRB attention to detail & the legacy of Victorian Fairy Painting.
PERHAPS I AM CRYING FROM FEELINGS THIS OFFICIAL ART MODERN AU.... mysterious (prb bodyguard or hire killer) guagua x gentle psychiatrist mingming who's actually tired and lonely under that smiling face....
Redheads are this week’s @MythologyMonday theme. As a redhead, I know the lore around us runs the gamut from fiery to coy, from luck to unluck, from Mary Magdalene to the PRB’s thing for us. Being rare means myths abound, but most of us grow to love it. 😉❤️
#MythologyMonday
@Blukirbs216 by memory... copy, sleep, yoyo, ice, jet, wing, hammer, wheel, ninja, stone, fire, suplex, crash, mike.... i can continue but mucho texto even if there's only those present in superstar if i must count 3D, PRB and even spinoff like Ballon Kirby in Canvas Curse i'll need 10 tweets
Hunt also portrayed his contemporaries such as his PRB friends Rossetti (1853) & Millais (1853). Also shown is Edward Lear (1857). The latter is almost hallucinatory in its scrutiny.
Ophelia was a popular subject for the PRB & Waterhouse painted the doomed maiden at least three times - each stunning. Ophelia (1910), Sketch of Circe (c1911-14), The Charmer (1911) & A Song of Springtime (1913)
His landscapes are pure PRB & have a mystical romantic quality against which he placed his ideal girl & ideal man. A Hamadryad (1893), A Naiad (1893) & Study for La Belle Dame sans Merci (c1893)
Original poster was inexplicably censored by Zhihu forum. Then new poster emerged, jokingly referred to as 2nd sage of Ruguanism. Yes, we have his Moe girl representation. He proposed China’s prb is not internal division of wealth, but raid wealth externally a la Manchu conquest
To appreciate Solomon’s unique approach it’s worth examining works by the other PRB painters for comparison. The Monna Vanna (1866) by Rossetti, Georgiana (1883) by Burne-Jones, Bridesmaid by JE Millais & Tuscan Girl (1869) by Holman Hunt
Walter Pater (1872), Judith & Her Attendant (1872) & Daniel (1873). Pater was a major essayist, was a friend of the PRB, & wrote about the Renaissance. His work on Botticelli was v influential on them.
