Saw an analysis of Voltorb's design that made me appreciate how genius it is. Voltorb is Pokémon's equivalent to the RPG Mimic which are enemies disguised as chests. Of course in Pokémon instead of chests you find Pokéballs so naturally their mimic would look like a Pokéball.

My AU includes two parallel worlds: 'Ripple', in which the characters live mostly as normal people (some special things here and there), and 'Wave', a fantasy world with a heavily expanded Pokémon aspects.
