Friday the 13th, Hellraiser, The Evil Dead, etc – horror movies were big in the 80s, so it was only a matter of time before someone put games and gore together. Gruesome graphics, spooky sound & grisly gameplay. Great fun.

I stopped liking the old Hell Chaos pixel art I made before, so I kept it out of the Splatterhouse sprite displays for last year's DTHT vid and this year's Beat 'Em Up vid. This one feels good enough to be in the next one.

I distinctly remember reading the manual when I was like 9-ish, and it discribed one of the monsters as 'drooling ropes of rotten flesh'. That's just good writing.

Clawface was intended as a mini-boss in the original, appearing in the first level. You can even see him in some trailers. He still 'appears' in the final, strung up right before Biggieman and as one of the final bosses' arms.

So from Splatterhouse's workfiles that I managed to get, one of the assets I was able to get my hands on was Clawface's mesh. It's rigged in Maya, but sadly the UV is...weird? Like the mesh was combined?

I'm also not the most familiar with how maya 3D works over Blender or Max.

So, I have a LONG ABANDONED fanfic that's a crossover between Splatterhouse and Silent Hill with tones of The Inferno, where fighting back comes with an overwhelming cost, but it's the only option Rick has to save Jennifer. I'm thinking of maybe starting over from scratch on it.

That’s the beauty of that armor, but TBH, the Juggernaut is my all-time favorite. The Splatterhouse Rick, AKA Maniaxe, was close due to its horror feel, but man, the Juggernaut makes you feel like a god in spamming the skull shots as the move and ricochet everything in its path.
