theory: I feel like the PLA game + the Ripple In Time short gave us a potential idea of what the series could be: Ash gets astrayed/slided in time with Pikachu and has to start anew, no one knows him. Continuity dies & therefore goes unaddressed.🤷‍♂️

Actually I'd argue that D&D has strayed away from being Eurocentric since at least 2E. Since 3E, everything's had a different, more multicultural flavor. 3E had more of a weird steampunk vibe with goggles and straps, hardly region specific. 5E fighter versus 2E.
