I managed to unfuck graphics in Tokimeki Memorial Oshiete Your Heart in MAME. I replaced the SCSI controller with a more implementation complete one (replaced the AM53CF96 with one based on NCR53CF94 with the required new registers) and it can properly load data now.

oh also this is the first time I played a whole route with a scanline filter. it was fun, although for a game like tokimemo which already has really well-made pixel art I think it's not necessary to enjoy the experience
