Totally agree. When the story is about how fücked up actions are or how characters react and recover from things that great. I’ve read lots of those. But there’s a difference between that and straight up bad writing. Dude gets blackmailed and forced into sëx-

I skipped the teen shelves straight to the adult section of the library I went to, as I liked the covers more than what was being published for YA at the time! Both these books heavily inspired my writing. I read them multiple times throughout my mid-teens :)
