yeah sure xp was desaturated but I think it makes the tileset blends well to the surroundings.

MV and VX era kinda felt garish/bold. I think the more realistic texture it had, the more uncanny it looked with grid/non parallax maps

like if you compare the 3 old concept art from the 2000s with AI results, you sorta notice how the AI ones looked "restrained"

something stops them from having wild "wonky" body shapes (aside from "da big sparkly animy eyes uwuu")
