Without a doubt, 2008 specifically. The art from that year is peak "web-comic," and I absolutely love it.

The penguins look perfect. Not too cute - not too silly. Completely believable, and very expressive.

2009-2012 was *too* cutesy, & everything else was far too exaggerated.
