6th December, todays palaeo Advent Calendar offering looks like she is enjoying her Christmas pudding.

The Museum has this wonderful right femur, belonging to a lightly built sauropod, something like a Diplodocus. This is it being moved in to our new research facility.

It'd definitely be a sauropod, without a doubt. My vote goes for Amargasaurus or Diplodocus though.

How long did it take a 🦕 to grow up? FAST! A baby Diplodocus grew to ~20 ft long within 4 years, ~60 ft in its teens, & by its late 20s as a <100 ft adult. But they didn't just get big fast - many parts of their skeleton underwent extreme shape change through growth!

A large sauropod at a lenght of 24 meters, its one of the best known members of its family and was the longest proportionally for a while, its named after its vertebra
