My half of an art trade with @AFrostedMonster!
And a zoom because I really like the faint dots of dithering I experimented with
@theGorgonist Gonna use the #mushroomonth challenge to practice my pixel art, try out a dithering brush, and make some cute lil mushroom houses!
Bday present for my friend @tangocoyo
playing around a bit with dithering brushes
Tried partially emulating a PC-98 look for this. Think it came out good but would have captured the look better if I was better at dithering and actually had the patience to do it for everything
@fdoganis @echevarian420 @_1mposter @_viscous ah and yeah, the dithering! it's actually the final step in the process. I use GIMP to do it, and it makes a huge difference. For example, here's the before and after for this piece
I need to make this into a commission option im so fucking tired of dithering
Something with a very limited palette to excercise once again with an 80s poster vibe- greyscale, dithering, and high black and white contrast.
Vaguely inspired by Patrick Nagel :3

You can now do ordered dithering, and you can mix it with error diffusion in varying amounts. The last panel uses both at 100%, and you can see how error diffusion is necessary to bring out subtle colors.
I was rendering with pixelation & dithering but when I tried posting a video, the compression and resizing really messed it up... here's some stills, maybe you can see the effect if you full view them
I KINDA FIGURED IT OUT.
Next time though, I need to use G-Pen rather then a texture brush/pencile to avoid the white dithering outlines.
Quick and simple but it's something!!! https://t.co/QvFh1H0J6S
