On paper, the Zaku II's backpack doesn't seem to have a place for thrusters (the first episode of MSG put them on the bottom). Even ZZ Gundam kept this detail. However the Doan's Island movie just had the curved part open like a hatch.

The thing about Char's Zaku is that it still has the markings for the Space Assault Force under Dozle. The only thing I can think of is that they're going to end the film with the Char vs Amuro at Gibraltar? That would be chronologically after Doan's Island?
