Whenever I make a portrait of an animal, I try to not only make it accurate to species but also capture their personality. It helps when I can spend the time and take reference photos like I’ve done with these avian friends from the #cascadesraptorcenter. #marchmeetthemaker
Day 13- USP
#MarchMeetTheMaker
I actually had to answer this in my business plan so this is an easy one for me! Other than the fact that these are original illustrations and characters, I’m also selling my personal story rather than just products.
Decided the answer to #marchmeetthemaker USP (as with most conundrums) is BIRDS. From Magpie’s Treasure & my @yspsculpture window to working w @Natures_Voice kids’ mag & the #FarnesFlock for @nationaltrust! Sure to make me run faster, attempt tricky yoga poses & sing for joy.
Day 12: Learning curve! #MarchMeetTheMaker the first picture is from 2007. The second is from 2020.
I stopped drawing from 2008 to 2018. I still draw like a high schooler 😅
This was the other piece that was lost in the mail. I remember that there were quite a few things that frustrated me with this one. Having clearer guidelines and more details will help with one of those frustrations. #marchmeetthemaker #scratchboard
Day 11- Range
#MarchMeetTheMaker
My range at the moment is rather small... but thanks to a small grant, I am able to buy more stock that I hope people are going to love!
Day 9 of #marchmeetthemaker is ‘Rough/Mock Up’. I don’t always create roughs of my work as I do a lot of thinking on the ‘canvas’ and kinda sculpt and manipulate vector graphics in Illustrator, gradually working them from basic shapes to the final detail… https://t.co/PF7hfUFgPq
Day 9- Rough/Mock Up
#MarchMeetTheMaker
We can even do the #StartToFinish challenge today! Two birds with one stone!
... uh... sorry, birds 😅
Whether it's a web design, a logo idea or an illustration concept, I always scribble something down as a Rough Mockup (prompt for Day 9 - #Marchmeetthemaker) before I even think about going near pixels.

Day 8 of #MarchMeetTheMaker - Love to make!
🐞🐞
New things! New designs! My favourite thing is coming up with new designs to share with you all. This is a little sneaky peeky of a new design, I have a sample in production and I'm sooooooo excited to see it - I hope you are too!
My favorite picture books have always had lots of details. I explain why in my “Close Up” post for #MarchMeetTheMaker #marchmeetthemaker2020 on Instagram: https://t.co/ci1X1rWuJD #kidlitart
Here's another post for #marchmeetthemaker 'Love to Make' prompt!
I really enjoyed working on this #editorial #illustration and I'd love to make similar work for other publications. If you're into drama, symbolism and bold colours then I'm the artist for you! 😉
#commissionsopen

Day 5: Close up #MarchMeetTheMaker
Details are kinda my thing, my favourite thing! They tend to get a bit lost when uploading to social media, so it’s nice to focus on them.
Did you know there is a secret message in my Cheshire Cat paintng? Do you see it? If so, reply "yes" but don't reveal it for others!

Day 5- Close Up
#MarchMeetTheMaker
Heck! That’s too close!!
I love this set of pins that I’ve created so far! I already have plans to make them as keyrings, stickers and shirts as well as design more pins. They’ve been a great investment to me so far!
