Stunning observational studies of conchology from @ShrewsburyBiol by Kate and Issy using conté crayons - excellent tonal application and mark-making girls! @The_Big_Draw @DhaMhw
A few places left on this online printmaking workshop with popular tutor Karen Carter! Linework, mark-making and creating tone and layers - no experience needed….just a spoon, a bit of elbow grease and a big apron! https://t.co/KVciNgT5Ov #printmaking #litho #drypoint

Combining intricate mark-making with a slightly naive perspective, Zena Kay's style is charmingly off-kilter > https://t.co/5R61L1yIXa
Since lockdown, I’ve been exploring mark-making and expressive paint techniques to produce work based on memories of the coastline around Anglesey. @JANUSZCZAK
When the wind turns chilly | Oil on canvas | 40x50cm
I was trying to catch the changing conditions; experimenting with warm/cool colours & mark-making. That's when the best outcomes seem to happen!

VIRGIL FINLAY's versatility in mark-making never underscored his style.
The first original I saw of his, was years ago in a Salt Lake City antique shop, sitting in the back, collecting dust. It was quite large and well-crafted.

#artadventcalendar Mark-making with fire, smoke and fine liner pen. The unexpected and barely controlled element with the fine control I enjoy with drawing. Small order in a little chaos.

Yr 12 fully immersed themselves in their mark making lesson today. We started with 30 second instinctive reactions to the words ‘energetic’ and ‘gentle’ (to name a few). This was followed by abstract mark-making in response to music from the film ‘The Shining’. Too much fun! 🎃
Friday said she didn’t get her Birthday portrait yesterday so I just scribbled her lazing in bed. Bamboo pen with walnut ink, W&N Peat Brown ink with dip-pen, then watercolour. Lots of messy mark-making! 😄

Still time to register for one of our free workshops at this weekend’s Arts Fest – including drawing natural objects, creative writing inspired by our Biomes, and exploring artificial intelligence. Or simply drop in to our collage and mark-making sessions. https://t.co/wVHyWUNEQR
OK last throwback art I'll post for now! Looking at my older work makes me realize I'm not as loose & experimental with my mark-making as I used to be. My colors were more fun too! I need to reign this back in!
Dean Cornwell:
I LOVE this! The oils are juicy, the mark-making is wickedly confident & the color is GORGEOUS! I wanted to touch this painting, it’s so tactile to look at (🤫 no I didn’t touch it bc I’m good but still…those brushstrokes are genius)
