You paint with oil and that's why you like it, you are much more sensitive to color nuances. Usually people love something bright and pure (like this👇), but traditional artists prefer complex, slightly muddy colors❤❤❤

I always felt like the shading/colors on these kinds of official promo art renders of SpongeBob looked so muddy... like... idk... idk anything about color theory or lighting, & i know this is VERY saturated, but this is how I would've rendered it bc i personally like it that way

Killzone's original aesthetic, especially the key art, had compositions that really flexed the gray, brown pallette. Though arguably derivative, the designs were used effectively. Clear, yet muddy, dense, yet focused.

A steam-powered expandable drill design. I like the black & white sketch alot more.

Designing mech stuff is really fun for me, but I feel I could have done better on this. I think the lineart wasn't clean enough making the colored finish too muddy looking.
