Today on Shark Week, our endangered shark is the Ganges shark, a freshwater species that inhabits much of Southeast Asia. Little is known about this shark, but pollution, overfishing and construction of dams put it in danger of disappearing before we can learn any more about it.

One of my favorite moments from Spirited Away is the Stink Spirit scene. The fact that Chihiro was the one who had to purify the River Spirit is significant, with the scene subtly saying that though humans may cause pollution, it's up to humans to fix it. It's a great message!

The Wampanoag showed the Pilgrims how to dig for
American eels (Anguilla Rostrata) hibernating in the mud for the 1st .
These eels were once numerous but are now endangered due to damming, pollution, and habitat destruction.
