I don't think I've seen a single game franchise as tragic as Ni No Kuni.

The first game was genuinely phenomenal and even had a solid remaster.

The sequel was underwhelming, the movie was just plain bad and the mobile game has a load of No Fucking Thanks if you catch my drift.
