Most of my paddle gaming on the C64 was actually racing games. 😁 Revs and Le Mans were the main ones I'd play. Then a bit of Arkanoid.. but it didn't take too long to give up in frustration at that one. 😉

I got my paddles to play Revs. (Makes a great substitute for a steering wheel.) 👍 But I think Le Mans was probably the second game I had to try after Revs, just because it was amongst the earliest games I ever saw on the C64 and I wanted to play it with the 'proper' controls. 😁

Pole Position taught me how to crash, if I'm entirely honest. 😁 I think the one that taught me how to drive was Revs. 👍 (It had this mechanic I wasn't used to: you had to actually use the brakes to be able to make it around the track.) 😋

People often make mention of Revs. But I don't see that much mention of Revs+, which was so much better with the extra four tracks, and the 'smart' steering for those unfortunate souls that didn't have paddles. (I had paddles.) 😁 That game taught me how to drive. 😋

I love Revs, and Revs+. The sound is merely functional, but if you hook up an analogue joystick, or paddles, it becomes such an amazingly good racing simulator. It's really unforgiving. But persevere and you'll find it so exciting to get through to the finish line in first place.
