Did you know … during the last glaciation, the Laurentide Ice Sheet was so thick that it advanced up the topographic slope. Look at the scales on the figures. That was a lot of ice! https://t.co/dVixcuievE @calgary #Yeg #yegwalkway @ualbertaScience @cangeographers @cpawssab
'Holywell Park' Thomas Gainsborough. Although Gainsborough lived in Ipswich for seven years, this rare early topographical work of the artificial ponds created to supply water to Thomas Cobbold's brewery, is his only known depiction of the town.
Photo of a three-dimensional topographical map of Italy. I remember these from childhood holidays in Italy. They were quite common at highway gas stations if I remember correctly? Maybe just a single gas station and my memory is faulty?Source: https://t.co/wJqmrpOFJV
There's no bandwagon we can't jump on!😜😂 This engraving from the King George III topographical collection shows the 'twin peaks' of the Pitons off St Lucia. Known in the 18th C as the 'sugar loaves': https://t.co/xAN8hyY6zl #TwinPeaksDay
New member Liz James works in a fluid, expressive style to portray the atmosphere of a place rather than topographical detail. Primarily a painter, she also likes to experiment and incorporate other materials and mediums into her work. https://t.co/rS5kK73E2t @lizjamesart
Looking at this simple topographic map of India you can see that national borders are based on historic events rather than obvious geographical markers. This screams for ongoing border conflicts. Source: https://t.co/KS9YmYiSYi
This topographic map of Bali coincidently looks like your state of mind after too many nights in Bali's nightlife... Source: https://t.co/W6LoatQ4QP
One more update today! Been working on this through the night while watching a couple of streams. The good thing about a project like this is that it's a lot easier and faster than a topographic map. Good to change it up every now and then.

Two William Hodges oil sketches of Tahiti, at Christie’s Topographical sale today. Vaitepiha Bay and Matavie Bay. Both painted during Cook’s 2nd voyage 1772-5. Here Hodges captured expansive skies & brilliant light of tropics, but before classicising additions in exhibited works.
@webcomicchat I like drawing buildings, actually...
Just don't have the opportunity at the moment to do so.
I actually had drafting classes well before "drawing" classes.
My college drawing teacher hated it. Kept making snide comments like "the model is not a topographic map"

Anders Dahl–died #OTD 1789, aged 38–was interested in botany from an early age & co-founded The Swedish Topographic Society in Skara. The dahlia was named after him, an honour wrongly thought to have been bestowed on him by Carl Linnaeus of whom he was a pupil.
Our Collection Curator recently travelled to India to rediscover this view, first captured by artist James Baillie Fraser in 1815. Fraser’s topographical prints, alongside others, are currently on display in our picture gallery.

The castle of Muiden is located near Amsterdam and probably dates from the 14th century. Even today it looks like in the painting "The Castle of Muiden in Winter" in 1658 by Dutch artist Jan Beerstraaten, who specializes in topographical painting.
