Apparently Vouivres were depicted as women from the waist up with a ruby between their eyes, like in SMT (how cool!). Originally separate from the typical concept of wyvern, they eventually became synonymous.( Can't find many cited sources but still cool)

Yeah, MH has a lot of these things. A wolf wyvern which can summon thunderbugs for aiding its attacks, a crystal scorpion, a panther wyvern, even a levitating octopus who eats trees!
