For a brushed metal effect (anisotropic shading), connect the geometry node's tangent output to the fresnel node's normal input. You can then run this through a color ramp for a cel shaded look.

It's been two years since I created Spiral Tangent. He means so much to me.
Lot of mistakes here, but I learned a lot and took a big step in overcoming my fear of painting harsh lights and shadows.
I think Tangent would approve of that.

I thought about paralax since everything is on layers, but it can be a bit of a pain to mockup in aseprite. The double outline might create some undesirable tangents if the layers scrolled in paralax as well.
