Probably a pretty controversial take, but I think a lot of characters designs in TTYD go too overboard on being creative.

Bobbery is my example. Very appealing, memorable design, but he's so unique that I can barely tell he's a Bob-Omb.

"Phantasm". It's not nearly as funny, nothing is going to beat "Evil Dead" for comedy horror, but "Phantasm" is just so damned weird and creative. I love all five movies. The create of "Phantasm" also did another great Bruce Campbell horror movie, "Bubba Ho-Tep".

When I'm feeling burnt out and lazy, I sketch from photographs, or else experiment with color design and just paint on a single layer. Playing with lots of random experiments like this - and staying AWAY from my usual subject matter & process! - has kept me feeling creative.

When Bobby Davis, Jr won the 1989 Kings Royal at Eldora his wife went to the payoff window and received a Twinkies box!
Inside it was the 50,000 dollars for winning the feature event!
Promoter Earl Baltes got creative.
