Often, mental and emotional issues are seen as less legitimate than physical issues.

@ComicsandCleave Told her I love Spider-man, Batman, Blade, The Crow. But unless it's creator-owned, most comics vary in quality and writing. And I used the comic she gave me (Spider-man:The Other) as an example. Compared the art between issues. She's an artist like me, and understood perfectly.
