okay these are super late but here are days 16-18 of #Octobird!! we have a pink-necked green pigeon (Treron vernans), an atlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica), and a superb starling (Lamprotornis superbus)!!

An insect with characteristics of blattodeans (cockroaches) and neopterans, it doesnt belong in either group but in a different order called protorthoptera
ALT: it was large at 12 cm, at least compared to modern insects, something common for its time period

An early British twin rotor helicopter, the Bristol 173. Designed by pioneer Raoul Hafner in 1952, the aircraft was intended as a passenger carrying helicopter. It never went beyond test flying, but was used as a base for the 192 Belvedere. The prototype can be seen @BristolAero
The Cierva W.11 'Air Horse', an early British helicopter that employed three rotors, all driven by one Rolls Royce Merlin engine!
This unusual craft was a 'proof of concept' for a larger machine, but a fatal crash in 1950, (through metal fatigue) ended the project, immediately.
