Genet, from RED SHOES, has a dark, snarky sense of humor. It was even darker in the first draft but my stepdaughter Vicki (whose sarcasm helped inspire Genet's) convinced me to dial it back. Even now, though, Genet laughs at grim things, and often at herself.
