Bien que dépassées, approximatives et parfois fantaisistes, ces vieilles cartes ont un charme indéniable.

Celles-ci, publiées par la Western Publishing House de Chicago en 1887, sont de grandes cartes géographiques/topographiques éducatives.

Today's recommendation is MS 700, from our Board member . It's over 800 years old, and contains The Topography of Ireland and The Conquest of Ireland. These Latin texts by Gerald of Wales describe his view of Ireland and the Irish after the Norman conquest.

'Holywell Park' Thomas Gainsborough. Although Gainsborough lived in Ipswich for seven years, this rare early topographical work of the artificial ponds created to supply water to Thomas Cobbold's brewery, is his only known depiction of the town.

Photo of a three-dimensional topographical map of Italy. I remember these from childhood holidays in Italy. They were quite common at highway gas stations if I remember correctly? Maybe just a single gas station and my memory is faulty?Source: https://t.co/wJqmrpOFJV

There's no bandwagon we can't jump on!😜😂 This engraving from the King George III topographical collection shows the 'twin peaks' of the Pitons off St Lucia. Known in the 18th C as the 'sugar loaves': https://t.co/xAN8hyY6zl

Joan Wyatt's A Middle-earth Album (1979) offers up another of its strangely compelling images tonight - The Forbidden Pool. The topography of the landscape is odd here, but I still love the tiny hunched shape of Gollum perched on his rock.
Jackson's Faramir anybody?

Looking at this simple topographic map of India you can see that national borders are based on historic events rather than obvious geographical markers. This screams for ongoing border conflicts. Source: https://t.co/KS9YmYiSYi

One more update today! Been working on this through the night while watching a couple of streams. The good thing about a project like this is that it's a lot easier and faster than a topographic map. Good to change it up every now and then.

Should be mostly done with the topography. Going to get rivers done tomorrow and then it's time for map markers throughout next week.

Topography of the southern continent: DONE ✔️
Probably not going to be able to work on this today, but hoping to get started on that northern continent over the weekend, maybe even get the rivers on the entire map finished.
