Quick directional lighting practice as a brief break. I find using a black background with lineart makes it easy to blend shadows in. I may come back to this design at some point, reminds me of big 90s hair.

Very brief explanation. Look at these 2. They aren’t human, but their looks, mannerisms and voices imply a certain human race to your mind. They are coded.

When an artist draws non-humans as humans, the coding affects what human appearance the artist ascribes to them.

I've finally designed an adventuring outfit and gear for my so here's a Sam! He's reluctantly a cleric but mainly he's a doctor, so I leaned into that (and his brief stint as a conscripted army medic) in his design.

"Hey can you illustrate a monster? Create whatever you want, I'll write the description based on what you come up with"

And so the Layer of Eggs was born
