Setting aside the cartoony aspect for one moment, the cranium of the skeleton’s skull appears to be a lot longer than that or a human’s.
While its true that human DQ characters come in all different shape and sizes, the skull seems to be more fitting for that of neanderthals.

1. Jiro: he's my first and "main" OC. Started as a Yakuza OC but has his own separate lore now too, plus a pokemon AU, I basically put him in every setting I want. He's a gang leader in his own lore. Loves pointy objects and motorcycles, and his husband Riley (bf's OC) and kid
And now we have the immaculate frog/deer duo. Went for a more simpler setting this time.
