This is Amabie, an ancient Japanese yokai whom supposedly rose from the sea and prophesied “If you show people a picture of my painting, the plague will subside.” I’ve decided to join many Twitter artists in drawing this wonderful yokai, stay safe everyone x

I hadn't even heard of a called the until this hit. It prophesied bountiful harvests--but it also proclaimed “If an epidemic occurs, draw a picture of me and show it to everyone." and it would stop the sickness. Fingers crossed this doodle helps. 🤞
