Been eagerly picking up the @DeafCrocodile restorations of the Russian fantasy films Ilya Muromets and Sampo, only to learn that director Aleksandr Ptushko later played a significant role in the story and art direction of Viy. Viy's style makes so much sense within this context.

there's a lot of alarming similarities
358/2 days gets an honorable mention because while it's nowhere near as crazy as the first 3 games it's still pretty wild and also extremely emotional in the context of the story
