For anyone not familar with Japanese,ドラゴン specfically is referring to European-styled dragons. For dragons that are akin to the oriental-shape, those are generally asssociated with 竜 (Ryu).
Hm, now isn't there a certain Pendulum X Digimon that has Ryu to it's name? Ryudamon!

It's weird to get in the habit of using Dorumon lately instead of DORUmon, mostly because the reasons people using DORU in caps are unconvicing.
Yeah, it's an acronym lore-wise, so is Aegis. But I come to think it really could be just a corruption of ドラゴン (doragon).
