in a nutshell, 80s animu is almost semi realistic with exaggerated features, like porcelain or ball jointed dolls, for example
while modern day anime art style looked really soft despite very stylized, it looks really flat despite being airbrushed
@xeno_toast Cell shade all day with a wee hint of airbrush here and there... (New phone gotta re save art to it...)
It probably doesn't look like it but i use airbrush a LOT can't live without it honestly
@xeno_toast I have two completely styles, one with a combination of cel and airbrush, and one with just cel shading.
Both?? Sometimes my shading goes from hard to soft so it's like a mix of solid and airbrush 😭 https://t.co/p0R4NJyjzM
Neither, you gotta work in your lights. Most of the times when you use airbrushes the light gets extremely blurry and doesn't blend correctly, it's what I like to call the "ghost effect" where the shadow exists but at the same time it doesn't. https://t.co/3Tcb8fMNNg
@xeno_toast sometimes airbrush, sometimes cell shading, sometimes both, it really depends
@xeno_toast I blend with medium brush to make it look semi airbrushed bc im stupid like that 💃💃💃
@xeno_toast Sometimes I use cell and sometimes I use airbrush. I do lean more in on cell shading though
@xeno_toast Moooostly airbrush but I have done some cel shaded stuff b4
@xeno_toast Cel shading is something I enjoy, but I like using airbrush for little details and gradients.
@xeno_toast I typically do airbrush, but cell when it feels right
I also use the brush tool in SAI (different from airbrush) for skin textures/more realistic
@xeno_toast I'm pretty new to digital art so I've mainly been doing cel shading. I really wanna learn how to do airbrushing well tho!
