If firearms aesthetics weren't so integral to Metal Gear's design I would agree. However their distinct visuals is why Kojima picked the FAMAS, PGS1 etc. specifically. Ohrai and Shinkawa still drew screen accurate firearms despite the graphics. It's the biggest difference imo.

Been practicing pixel art by doing mockups based on old stories of mine. This story was a heavily influenced by Zelda so it felt appropriate to follow through with that when drawing the graphics.
