RIP - one of the best illustrators ever. 😔💚

Thought I'd see how does when prompted with his inimitable style.

Not bad results... but not a patch on the Master himself.

Humans are definitely better than machines.

Raymond Briggs, When The Wind Blows...

R.I.P. Raymond Briggs (1934-2022), a master of the graphic novel for the past half-century, whose blend of mirth and melancholy elevated his stories far beyond kids' stuff.

Don't just read his tragicomic tale of nuclear war, 'When the Wind Blows' (1982); read all his books!

"The Snowman" is his classic, but I'll always remember Raymond Briggs for his take on "Father Christmas" as a cantankerous, all-too-human old fart. Briggs's imagery often inspired awe, but it was the relatable mundanity of his domestic tableaus that always stuck with me.

RIP Raymond Briggs

One of the first comic book writers and artists I was exposed to as a child. The first one I read was Gentleman Jim, a story about a toilet attendant who becomes a highwayman.

I was sad to hear about the passing of Raymond Briggs today. I loved reading his books especially The Snowman and Fungus the Bogeyman when I was young and of course watching The Snowman. Here is an illustration I did inspired by that magical moment ✨️

Brighty: Another sad loss, which demanded commemoration by pen. Amidst the sadness, this was pure joy to draw. I make no apology for any over-sentimentality, since he was the master of sentimentality - political cartoon gallery in London https://t.co/dePcTdnXF6

Godspeed, Raymond Briggs.

Raymond Briggs, author & illustrator of our favorite books, the globally adored 'The Snowman,' has passed away. Mr. Briggs was a caring, fun-loving man with a wicked sense of humor and a wall in his office dedicated to the art sent by children inspired by his work.

So sad to learn that a Raymond Briggs has passed away. Such a homely comfy and comforting illustrator . My children adored Fungus the Bogeyman . They are in their forties now and reading his stories to their children. National Treasure Status
