Thanks to the awesome

(who is working on the game "Wild Wood"), I now have a better loading screen for my game :) Now to finish the game, haha!
How it started (mine) How it ended

It started off like this, haha. But thanks! This was the first time I made a MultiColor C64 piece in Multipaint, and it kind of clicked. I took my time to figure stuff out and I obsessed over the line dithering.

What was the first Street Fighter game that you played?

Street Fighter on the c64 was mine (on a friends' C64 and it was rubbish although I did love the graphics at the time)

I bought it on eBay for 99p just for the nostalgia of it all.

Split Personalities

Domark

1986

Inspired by Spitting Image, SP is a simple concept that makes for an ace puzzle game. With nice graphics of 80s celebs & crazily addictive gameplay, it’s an absolute belter. Fantastic fun that plays superbly today.

John Vanderaart's Aurum was originally intended for release by Radarsoft in 1987, but it was never to be for reasons still unknown. Thankfully, the full version was fully preserved in 2014, along with an English translation created.

Defender of the Crown

Cinemaware

1987

Cinemaware’s debut is an absolute corker. Fantastic presentation, at the time, probably the greatest graphics seen on the C64 and a perfect balance of action and strategy. A superior piece of software.

Of course, like most people posting here, I played the C64 version for a while before coming to the Amiga version. And, sure, it doesn't look as impressive. But the C64 version has a pace to it that makes the game more exciting to play.

Hallöchen - heute geht es um ein Spiel, welches auch zu zweit simultan am C64 spielbar war.

Head Over Heels

Ocean

1987

It may look like yet another Knightlore clone, but Head Over Heels is so much more. Lots of lovely amusing touches, brilliantly designed puzzles and ultra-addictive gameplay make this an incredibly absorbing game.

Accolade

Few publishers released games as polished as Accolade did, and this is no exception. A brilliant murder mystery with excellent graphics, bags of humour and engrossing gameplay, it’s fantastic fun.

Pipe Mania

Empire

1989

One of the last games I played on the C64 (I switched to the Amiga in '89) Pipe Mania is simple but maddeningly addictive. Like lots of puzzlers, graphics and sound aren’t flash, but the playability is off the scale.

Tomorrow I will publish what is surely the weirdest article I've written yet. I wanted to celebrate the obscure history of a pioneer woman developer who made games for the C64, VIC-20 and PET, but ended up finding too little and... well, too much.

I didn't actually mind that so much.
So many C64 games go for multi-colour sprites, it's nice to see the C64 flex it's high-res muscles every once in a while. 🤔 That random-falling-off-the-log in the staff level was rage-inducing though. 😡

Starsat was an isometric RPG title produced back in 1988 for the It was finished and pitched to an Australian publisher called Pactronics, where no deal could be made. The complete game was saved and released by GTW in 2006.
